An Inspiring Spring

I would love to share my experiences thatI’ve had this spring.   Since early AprilI have had the pleasure of attending three amazing presentations by threerenowned experts in their respective fields: Dr. Wayne Dyer, Dr. Deepak Chopraand Michael Losier.

Dr. Wayne Dyer was speaking at a conference in Toronto and I was able to attend his new presentation entitled, “Excuses Begone!”  Dr. Dyer has written countless self-help books, many achieving best seller status.  He called his new movie “The Shift” and it is another medium for him to get his ideas out to the public (check it out!).  With the idea of getting rid of excuses he brought a drummer on stage who lost his hands when he was a young boy.  It was very inspiring to listen to and he brought the crowd of 2500 to their feet! Things I have been able to use personally from Wayne Dyer include the analogy about oranges...what do you get when you squeeze oranges?  Orange juice (of course).  Well what comes out of you when you are squeezed?  Observing your reaction in times of stress is a good indicator about what is truly on the inside.

The next speaker we heard here in Halifax was Indian physician Deepak Chopra.  I have read many of his books and have always agreed with his general health philosophies about the self-healing ability of the body and its ability to maintain homeostasis.   One distinction for me was listening to him talk about the body and how almost all of the cells of the body will replace themselves in a year. This is very promising as most people could make dramatic changes to their lifestyle in one year and as a result have totally new cells expressing a different level of health.  He contradicts the mainstream medical ideas that genes CONTROL health and like Wayne Dyer is pointing to new research that talks about how DNA is the blueprint of the cell but your health is not necessarily determined by your genes (epigenetics).  He also put us through a deep meditation and talked about how important meditation is to our overall health.

Finally, Michael Losier was here in early June.  He is the bestselling author of the book “The Law of Attraction.”  My wife Cindy has taken a course from him enabling her to become a Certified Law of Attraction Facilitator so I was already familiar with the material but I was still very impressed with his polished delivery and flawless presentation.  He likes to call himself the ‘how-to’ guy for the Law of Attraction and was on the radio show Oprah and Friends.   He really takes these metaphysical concepts about The Law of Attraction and makes them real, tangible and usable.  There were many great insights but perhaps one of the best included eliminating three words from your vocabulary: don’t,not and no.  Talk about difficult when you have small children!!  The idea is that you will attract what you think about whether positive or negative so if you are using negative words you are likely to attract negative experiences.  One of the tricks he taught was when you catch yourself saying one of the three words to stop and ask yourself, “So what do I want?”.  This will quickly take your attention away from what you don’t want (negative) and put it towards what you do want (positive). If you’re not familiar with his work I would highly recommend his book or to go see him live.

I would actually recommend anything recent from these three authors to expand your current beliefs about health and wellness and to take you into a different mindset that will help create the health you have always wanted.  Remember, if you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always got!
