About 40 years ago I suffered a serious fall which seemed for me, a life living with osteoarthritis was to follow. In May 2008, I had a successful total right hip replacement and was told that the next year I would probably need the left hip replaced.
While waiting for the second surgery my right knee also arthritic, became increasingly more painful and deformed. As the time for my next surgery approached, it became more difficult towalk and almost impossible to go up and down stairs without severe pain. I was beginning to despair about the success of the left hip operation because my past experience had taught me that exercise and walking were essential for full recovery.
It was then I was advised to see Dr. Michael, an orthopedic and neurological specialist with over 20 years of experience including 9 years of TCM (Transitional Chinese Medicine). Dr. Michael first uses Western assessments as a first step with integration into an acupuncture treatment program.
After 8 appointments my knee has returned to 70% capacity and I am optimistic that this percentage will increase by my next surgery, scheduled for
When I started to see Dr. Michael I knew very little about acupuncturebut felt I had nothing to lose and much to gain by trying. I am determined to follow his direction and do what I can to help myself. Ialternate hot and cold pads on my knee. I only stayed on my feet for 30 minutes at a time and followed closely to everything he said. While in hisoffice for treatments one hour twice a week, I spent the time in relaxation and meditation. The treatment itself was painless.
I feel very secure with my orthopedic surgeon and know because of Dr.Michael’s intervention, my total left hip replacement surgery will be successful.
Thank you so much Dr. Michael for using your skill to help me face my next surgery with optimism. As long as you are around I suspect this will be my last invasive surgery.
