VISIT ONE (APPROXIMATELY 90 MINUTES)
Your initial visit will start with a brief tour to familiarize yourself with our clinic. You'll then watch a 15-minute video of the NUCCA procedure that explains our approach to chiropractic wellness. The paperwork will be filled out following the video.
You’ll then meet with one of our chiropractic doctors who will discuss your specific health concerns and perform a thorough history, examination and postural evaluation. Following this initial part of the visit, specific x-rays will be taken of your head and neck.
Once your x-rays are complete, it is a good idea to check with our office manager to confirm the date of your next chiropractic treatment. You are then free to go since the doctor requires time to go over your specific case and analyze the x-rays to determine the vector for your spinal correction.
VISIT TWO (APPROXIMATELY 90 MINUTES)
On your second visit, Dr. Plotsky or Dr. Toner will review your examination and x-ray findings. The doctor will explain how your misaligned spine may be adversely affecting your health. Any questions you have at this time will be addressed and the doctor will share the initial expectations with you. You’re now ready for the spinal correction and the doctor will explain how it is delivered. Your job will be to simply lie down on your side as though you are taking a nap. During the spinal adjustment you will feel a very delicate pressure at the top of your neck.
The doctor’s focus during the spinal correction is to reduce the misalignment of the upper neck, which in turn influences overall body balance. Once the doctor is satisfied with the correction, you will be taken to the x-ray room for two more pictures. These follow-up films will be analyzed by the doctor to provide valuable information as to whether your correction is complete or if the doctor needs to change anything in the adjustment. You will rest in the recovery room as the doctor takes the time to look over the films to ensure the accuracy of the correction.
OTHER VISITS (APPROXIMATELY 30-45 MINUTES)
To determine whether or not you are in or out of balance, your chiropractor will use a specific leg check, a standing postural exam and a palpation of your spine to measure your posture. If you remain balanced, congratulations, your body is healing! If it is determined that you are out of balance, you will receive a spinal correction and then proceed to the recovery room for a period of 15 minutes to allow the correction to stabilize. Prior to leaving, please make sure to check with the office manager who will schedule your next appointment based on the healing cycle and where you are on that spectrum.
