Dionna is a Registered Massage Therapist and Myofascial Release Therapist who attended Acadia prior to graduating from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy. Since graduation, she has traveled extensively across North America to further her understanding of her preferred method of treatment, the John F. Barnes approach to Myofascial Release.
Myofascial release is a gentle and dry application. Fascial tissue webs in and around all structures of the body, down to the cellular level. When the body gets injured, fascial tissue begins to tighten up to protect the body from further injury. If not treated, the body torques or twists, restricting movement and causing discomfort and pain. This leads to unnatural positions, pulling the body off balance and out of alignment.
Myofascial restrictions are caused by poor posture, occupational and emotional stress, gravity, childhood injuries, soft tissue injuries, and more. Dionna will perform an accurate postural assessment and complete necessary orthopedic testing to determine the most efficient treatment plan for you.
