Amie has developed a special interest in working with children, athletes, and the weekend warriors. Because of her commitment and continued studies in sport, she has earned her Certificate and Diploma in Sport Physiotherapy; the highest Sport Level to be obtained, which qualifies her as a Registered International Sport Physical Therapist.
Amie has worked with Cirque du Soleil travelling through Canada, USA, and Europe. Amie is currently in charge of the medical for Soccer Nova Scotia’s High-Performance Program and is the key member of Hockey Canada Medical Team.
She is a preferred provider for the Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic’s elite athletes. She has also travelled with Soccer Canada and Volleyball Canada (Beach) for National and International Events. If you have ever been to a Rainmen or Hurricanes Basketball game, you would find Amie sitting on the bench with them for the last 10 out 12 years. She has been the Lead Therapist for the basketball teams to help keep players healthy and on the court.
Amie has been heavily involved with Hockey Canada over the last few years at all levels and was named as Hockey Canada’s Female Under 18 National Team Physiotherapist and has won a gold and silver medal with them at the World Championships.
Since graduating she has completed a number of courses including Functional Dry Needling, Manual Therapy and Pain Science, Exercises Essentials, First Aid/First Responders (Sport Specific), Traditional Acupuncture, as well as Mulligan Concepts. Amie is one of the few therapists in the Atlantic Provinces who is trained with the Amino Neuro Frequency Therapy (discs) which she obtained in Spain.
Through experience Amie has learned to reach optimal performance, you must look beyond the symptoms and treat the whole person. Her treatment philosophy promotes healthy living, wellness and enhancing performance through education, exercise, and manual therapy. Amie’s philosophy is that activity modification rather than complete rest (when appropriate) will keep athletes engaged and on top of their game.
